The service

The Function (thefunction.nyc) turns event flyer screenshots into calendar events and shareable RSVP pages, and sends related text messages. By using the site or opting into texts you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy.

SMS messaging program

• Program description: when you opt in by entering your phone number on our site, we send (a) one-time login codes you request, (b) RSVP reminder texts for events you explicitly expressed interest in, and (c) replies to messages you send us (e.g., “what’s the function”, HELP).
• Message frequency varies — typically up to one reminder text per day, plus login codes and replies you request.
• Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile plan.
• Opt out at any time by texting STOP; text START to re-subscribe and HELP for help, or email contact@thefunction.nyc.
• Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Your content & conduct

You’re responsible for what you upload and share. Don’t use the service to spam, harass, or share content you don’t have the right to share. Events you create are visible to anyone who has the event link; your name and RSVP status are visible to other participants of that event. We may remove content or restrict accounts that abuse the service.

Acceptable use

Don’t upload or share content that is illegal, sexually explicit, exploitative of minors in any form, harassing, violent, or that you don’t have the rights to. We may remove any content and suspend or ban any account at our sole discretion, and we report content involving the exploitation of minors to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as required by law. Flyers and images are uploaded by users. If you believe content on The Function infringes your copyright, send a notice containing the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) — identification of the work, the infringing URL, your contact information, a good-faith statement, and your signature — to contact@thefunction.nyc. We remove infringing content promptly and terminate repeat infringers’ accounts.

Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. Event details are extracted automatically and may contain errors — always confirm the time and place before you pull up. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us (currently: nothing).
